Final call for FujiFilm Photographic Awards
In its ongoing commitment to supporting and building photography in the country, FujiFilm is once again sponsoring the Southern African Photographic Awards for 2006, which was recently recognised as the largest photographic competition in Africa.
FujiFilm General Manager Malcolm Ryan explains that the awards are aimed at recognizing excellence in photography. FujiFilm has secured prize money and products to the value of close to R300 000 for the winners of the competitions.
The categories for the competition include the MTN Press Awards, the Getaway Wildlife & Environment Photographic Competition, the Foto First National Schools Photographic Exhibition and the FujiFilm Professional Awards.
With more than 2 000 photographs received to date, the four competitions are receiving fantastic creative images. Entries are still rolling in, but the competition cut off is fast approaching. FujiFilm inundated with entries for the 2006 Photographic Awards
In its ongoing commitment to supporting and building photography in the country, FujiFilm is once again sponsoring the Southern African Photographic Awards for 2006, which was recently recognised as the largest photographic competition in Africa.
Entries for the increasingly competitive competition have closed and, officials have reported that this year saw a record breaking number of entries. The Getaway Wildlife & Environment Photographic Competition experienced the largest increase, with the FujiFilm Professional Awards experiencing a 20% increase in entries. Last year, the awards received 3 500 entries; however, entries more than doubled this year with an incredible 7 483 entries in the four categories of the competition.
FujiFilm General Manager Malcolm Ryan says that the awards are aimed at recognizing excellence in photography and, not only did the quantity of entries increase this year, the quality also dramatically improved. The four competitions received fantastic creative images, and the winners will be announced at a gala evening on 17 August in Johannesburg.
